音楽一家に生まれた才能
音楽一家に生まれたイダ・プレスティは、父親からピアノを、そしてマリオ・マッキャフェリという巨匠からギターを学ぶ。
マッキャフェリとの出会いは、彼女の音楽人生を大きく左右する転機となりました。
マッキャフェリは、イダ・プレスティの才能を見抜き、厳しくも愛情深い指導を行った。
華々しいデビューと国際的な活躍
8歳での初ソロコンサート、10歳での本格的なコンサートデビューなど、イダ・プレスティの音楽活動は非常に早く始まる。
パリ音楽院での演奏や、パガニーニのギターを弾いたことは、彼女の若き才能を世に広く知らしめることとなる。
その後、イダ・プレスティはフランス国内だけでなく、世界各地で演奏旅行を行い、その名声を不動のものにしました。
彼女の演奏は、テクニックの高度さだけでなく、音楽に対する深い理解と表現力に溢れており、聴衆を感動させた。
映画出演など多才な活動
イダ・プレスティは、ギタリストとしての活動だけでなく、映画にも出演するなど、多才な才能を発揮。
映画『ラプチショセ』での演奏は、彼女の音楽をさらに多くの人々に知らしめるきっかけとなる。
音楽の遺産
録音には、二重奏曲の他に数々の独奏曲も残されており、演奏風景や録音風景を収録した映像も残されている。

多忙の中、ニースなどで講習会も行い、優秀な生徒をたくさん輩出。
今、フランスではどこの音楽院にも必ずギター科があるのは、その時の生徒達が活躍したことが大きく関わっている。
ギター・デュオ「プレスティ&ラゴヤ」
1950年、アレクサンドル・ラゴヤと出会い、ギター・デュオ「プレスティ&ラゴヤ」を結成。
1年後の1953年5月23日、二人は結婚。
2年後、世紀のアンサンブル、ラゴヤ＝プレスティの二重奏が出現した。
Wigmore Hallでの衝撃のリサイタルの数年後、プレスティはソロ活動を辞め、アレクサンドル・ラゴヤとギターデュオ「Presti-Lagoya」を結成。
以後、彼女が亡くなる1967年までに欧米諸国を中心にリサイタルを行った。
世界各地を巡って2000回もの演奏会を開き、歴史上最も成功したギター・デュオとなった。
アンドレ・ジョリヴェは《2台ギターのためのセレナード》を、ジャン・イヴ・ダニエル＝ルジュールは《2台ギターのための悲歌》を、マリオ・カステルヌオーヴォ＝テデスコは《24の前奏曲とフーガ》や《2台ギターと管弦楽のための協奏曲》を2人に捧げるなど、多くの作曲家から作品を献呈された。
プレスティ&ラゴヤは、スペイン音楽やバロック音楽をギター・デュオ用に編曲し、レパートリーを充実させた。
プレスティは作曲家としても活動し、《ギターのための6つの練習曲》や《リズミカルな踊り》、《セゴビア》、2台ギターのための《ハンガリー舞曲（バルトーク・ベーラを称えて）》などを残す。
アンドレ・ジョリヴェやダニエル・ルシュールなどの大作曲家からも曲を贈呈され、それらの曲は今もギター二重奏の名曲として演奏されている。
エピソード
ある日、生徒が「自分がイダ・プレスティじゃなくてどれだけ辛いかわかりますか？」と質問すると、プレスティは笑顔で「私がバッハじゃなくてどれだけ辛いかわかる？笑」と答えた。
伝説のギタリスト、イダ・プレスティの42年間の壮絶な人生
プレスティの幼少期
「幼少期など私にはなかった」と彼女は語った。
父親は、彼女を天才ギタリストにしようと決意し、学校へは行かせず、部屋に閉じ込めた。
毎日、バッハやヴィラ・ロボスの曲を練習。
しかし、彼女はただ単に練習していたわけではなかった。
渡された楽譜をすぐに暗譜し、大好きなアステリックスの漫画を読みながら、遊び心を持って練習に取り組む。
父親の教育は厳しかった。練習しないと大切にしていた人形を壊すと脅し、実際に壊すこともあった。
ある時、彼女は一人でおままごとをしている最中に手をナイフで切ってしまったが、父親は演奏会を中止せず、左手に包帯を巻いて演奏させた。
しかし、プレスティはこの時期を決して不幸だとは思っていなかった。
音楽の深さを幼いながらに理解し、日々の鍛錬が自分の成長に繋がっていくことを楽しんでいた。
週末には、父親と一緒にレコードを聴いたり、コンサートに行ったりするなど、わずかながらも自由な時間を与えられていた。
晩年と死去
プレスティ&ラゴヤは、1967年に自然消滅するまでの17年間に、次々と成功を収め、多くの作曲家から夥しい数の作品を献呈される。
肺癌が原因の体調不良から1967年、楽旅先の米国で亡くなる。
42歳であった。
イダ・プレスティの残した音楽は、今もなお多くのギタリストや音楽ファンに愛され続けています。
彼女の演奏は、ギターの可能性を無限に広げ、後のギタリストたちに大きな影響を与えました。

Talent born into a musical family
Born into a musical family, Ida Presti learnt piano from her father and guitar from a master, Mario Maccaferri.
Her encounter with Maccaferri was a turning point in her musical life.
Maccaferri recognised Ida Presti’s talent and gave her strict but loving guidance.
A spectacular debut and international success
Ida Presti’s musical career began very early, with her first solo concert at the age of eight and her full-scale concert debut at ten.
Her performances at the Paris Conservatory and playing Paganini’s guitar made her young talent widely known.
Thereafter, Ida Presti travelled extensively in France and internationally, cementing her reputation.
Her performances impressed audiences not only with the sophistication of her technique, but also with her deep understanding of music and expressive power.
Film appearances and other versatile activities
Ida Presti is not only a guitarist, but has also demonstrated her versatility by appearing in films.
Her performance in the film L’Apicheose brought her music to the attention of an even wider audience.
Musical legacy
In addition to the duets, numerous solo pieces remain on recordings, as well as videos of performances and recordings.
These are a unique testimony to Presti’s unparalleled virtuosity in playing difficult pieces with ease.
In spite of his busy schedule, he also gives courses in Nice and other cities, and has produced many excellent students.
The fact that every conservatory in France now has a guitar department is largely due to the success of his students at that time.
Guitar duo Presti & Lagoya
In 1950, he met Alexandre Lagoya and formed the guitar duo Presti & Lagoya.
A year later, on 23 May 1953, they were married.
Two years later, the ensemble of the century, the Lagoya-Presti duet, emerged.
A few years after her electrifying recital at Wigmore Hall, Presti gave up her solo career and formed the guitar duo Presti-Lagoya with Alexandre Lagoya.
From then until her death in 1967, they gave recitals mainly in Western countries.
They toured the world and gave 2000 concerts, making them the most successful guitar duo in history.
André Jolivet dedicated his Serenade for two guitars, Jean-Yves Daniel-LeJeur his Dirge for two guitars, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco his 24 Preludes and Fugues and his Concerto for two guitars and orchestra to them, and many other composers The works were dedicated to them.
Presti & Lagoya enriched their repertoire by arranging Spanish and Baroque music for guitar duo.
Presti was also active as a composer, with works such as Six Exercises for Guitar, Rhythmic Dances, Segovia and Hungarian Dances (in honour of Bartók Béla) for two guitars.
André Jolivet, Daniel Lecheur and other great composers presented him with pieces, which are still performed as masterpieces for guitar duet.

One day, a student asked, ‘Do you know how hard it is not to be Ida Presti yourself?’ to which Presti replied with a smile, ‘Do you know how hard it is for me not to be Bach? Laughter’, he replied.

Presti’s childhood.
‘There was no childhood for me,’ she said.
Her father was determined to turn her into a guitar prodigy and locked her in her room instead of sending her to school.
Every day, she practised the music of Bach and Villa Lobos.
But she did not just practise.
She immediately memorised the sheet music she was given and playfully practised while reading her favourite Asterix cartoons.
Her father’s education was strict. He threatened to break her cherished doll if she did not practise, and sometimes she actually did break it.
On one occasion, she cut her hand with a knife while playing tricks alone, but her father did not cancel the concert and made her play with a bandage on her left hand.
However, Presti never considered this period of her life to be unhappy.
He understood the depth of music at a very young age and enjoyed the daily training that led to his personal development.
At weekends, she was given a small amount of free time to listen to records and go to concerts with her father.
Later years and death
Presti & Lagoya enjoyed a string of successes in the 17 years before their natural death in 1967, and many composers contributed a great number of works.
He died in 1967 in the USA on an easy trip due to ill health caused by lung cancer.
She was 42 years old.
The music left behind by Ida Presti is still loved by many guitarists and music fans.
Her playing had a profound influence on later guitarists, as it opened up endless possibilities for the guitar.
